Hi everyone, my name is Stephen Tom and I work with my small team of motivated and outside the box thinkers to bring you Teacherlinx. I currently teach eighth grade in Los Angeles, CA and love it. Where else can you give back all that you learned in college to the future of America?
I created Teacherlinx because as a newer teacher, I felt there were a lot of holes in terms of support for what a novice teacher needed. Starting a support network for educators on the internet, where one goes not only for entertainment, but to improve personal practice would be fun and gratifying.
With assistance from my team, we developed our vision of a lesson plan database connected to the power and innovation of social networking. In terms of lesson creation, being a teacher, I know that online lesson creation is a very primitive and non-lucrative idea, but ask yourself this, "What if every teacher who visited Teacherlinx uploaded three of their best worksheets or lessons?" If 500 people visit, that would be 1,500 free lessons to share and improve the profession. Although I know it's an idealistic notion, I work everyday thinking of ways to bridge the gap between a teachers free time and the need for good lesson and worksheet ideas.
